Flooring Care & Maintenance

The Do's and Don'ts

Tips for Cleaning Hard Surface Flooring

Proper maintenance of your floors can keep their colors vibrant for years to come. Here are a few tips on what to avoid when cleaning your hard surface floors.

1. Don't...use Steam Cleaners.

Be cautious of steam mops on any hard surface flooring. This method of cleaning voids ALL warranties with hardwood, vinyl products, or porcelain tile and stone. Steam cleans force steam down into gaps and joints of floors, causing structural as well as visual damage to the hard surface floor.

2. Don't...use Vinegar.

At one time vinegar was a recommended cleaner for floors, but NO more.  Vinegar as being acidic, can etch, dull, and potential damage the finish on hardwood, vinyl.

3. Don't...use Oil Base Cleaners.

Though they smell wonderful, continual use of this type of product can build up and become “gummy and sticky” softening the finish on your floor and making removal very difficult.

4. DO...use Ammonia based Products.

Tudor Carpet One sells recommended products that are ammonia based, ph balanced and environmentally friendly.
